1. Tap two free tiles with the same face to clear them. A tile is free when nothing sits on top and its left or right side is open. Dimmed tiles are blocked.
2. Every pair scores. Pairs that open up more tiles score more, and quick matches earn a bonus. Think before you tap, but not for too long. A hint shows the smartest pair, but that pair scores half.
3. You have 2 minutes 30 seconds. The ghost plays the same board and every few seconds reaches for a pair. Those two tiles glow teal.
4. Tap a glowing tile before the glow fills and you ward it off. The ghost loses its turn, but you only have 3 wards (one comes back every 40 seconds). You can also steal the pair by matching it yourself, but a stolen pair only scores a quarter, because the ghost did the thinking.
5. A tile you have selected is safe. The ghost never targets it.
6. On Swift and Fierce, the ghost sometimes strikes twice in a row with almost no pause between reaches. Wards are scarce and slow to regenerate, so you often can't block both. Calm never does this.
7. Crunch time: with 1 minute left the ghost speeds up sharply. When the clock hits zero or no matches remain, the higher score wins. You get one free shuffle, which always leaves a solvable board.

• No clock. You and the ghost take turns, one pair each, and you go first.
• Every pair scores by its tiles: ones and nines 20, winds 30, dragons 40, everything else 10. Gold badges show the higher values.
• The ghost is fully predictable: it takes the most valuable free pair, then the one that opens the most tiles. Its next pair is outlined with a dashed teal line.
• So think about what your move leaves for the ghost. Opening a valuable pair hands it over.

Same rules as séance: you take turns, and whoever leaves less on the board wins. No clock races, just you two.
